Junction House receives LPAT approval
We are thrilled to announce that, on February 1, 2019, Junction House received final approval in principle from the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). This is following its approval by Toronto City Council on July 23, 2018, which directed city staff to attend the Tribunal’s hearing last fall in full support of the project. This is an important milestone for Junction House, as the project team has now shifted its focus to preparing for construction.
Around the same time as this decision, the Toronto Region Board of Trade also issued this release, where they explained that around 28,784 potential new homes are currently trapped in the approvals process. They note: “New hearings are currently being scheduled into mid-2020. Today, the Board calculates that more than 28,000 potential housing units are caught in the backlog in Toronto alone.” On top of this, not every LPAT hearing will result in an approval.
The team is looking forward to the next phase of Junction House. Our Sales Gallery is now open at 2720 Dundas Street West – in the Junction proper.
